Saving GH:Why it's NOT about a Soap Couple Anymore
Many of us have been on this campaign to save the ABC soap General Hospital and to hopefully get All My Children and One Life to Live back on the air. The most promident campaign is called "The Buttercup Army". And yes I admit that it did start out as a campaign to bring back the REAL Jason Morgan because for so long the character has been a pod person. And yes it a few members are apart of the Liason fanbase (Jason and Elizabeth Fans) but this campaign isn't about us wanting a soap couple together. The Buttercup Army is about keeping General Hospital on the air. It's about saving a legacy. It's about holding Anne Sweeny to her word. It's about restoring General Hospital to it's former glory. What this campaign is NOT about is one actor/actress or soap couple. This isn't some fanbase war. This about saving a show so many people love. My grandmother is 90 years old and has been watching soaps since the 1960's. She isn't a fan of one particular pairing or one particular actor or actress. She simply is a fan of soaps. She enjoys watching them. She was heartbroken when it was announced that AMC and OLTL were being axed. She told me she enjoys so little tv these days and that she loved watching her soaps. Now she only has two soaps she watches, General Hopsital and Young And The Restless. I haven't had the heart to tell her GH is in danger of cancellation and I won't unless there is some news to tell her. I am hoping I won't have to do that. She like so many have been faithful viewers of General Hospital and soaps. This campaign is about people like her, loyal viewers who don't want their show to be gone. We have ONE last shot at this people. Forget the stupid fanbase wars. Please do not prove ABC right in that these stupid wars will cause us to implode and cause GH to be cancelled. This is about saving a show that means so much to so many. They say soaps are a dying breed, we need to prove this statement wrong. I don't care if you hate one couple or love another. I don't care if you adore one actor/actress or hate them. It doesn't matter anymore. What matters is saving this show. Without the show there won't be any couple or person to root for. We need to forget the crap, and band together to save this show. Fans banded together when Rebecca Herbst was fired, and it didn't matter who you wanted her character paired with, we just did what needed to be done and saved her job. Now is the time to band together and fight with everything we have. Ratings matter people. Watch the show live if you can, DVR the show (even if you want live), watch online, let it be viewed as many times as possible. Even if you just turn it on and walk away and don't sit down and actually watch I don't care as long as it is on in your home. Remember on the DVR to make sure it was recorded because on Friday March 2, DVR's across the country didn't record the episode. It is believed this was an deliberate move although no one knows for sure yet but the fact that some have it recorded and others don't smells fishy to me. This is why this fight is so important. This tells me ABC is as dirty as they come if they pull this crap. Also there have been so many haters who are being threatening and down right cruel. These people clearly aren't true fans of GH. They just want a certain pairing or a certain actor/actress to shine, they don't care about the rest. And they should. General Hospital is worth saving. So let's save it!
